Does the Intraluminal Thrombus Provoke the Rupture of the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Wall?

چکیده

The role of intraluminal thrombus (ILT) in the rupture abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is controversial, and it unclear whether increases or decreases risk rupture. This research aims to find a clear answer this question. Previous computer modelling suggests that an ILT lowers oxygen dissemination AAA wall, contributing wall thinning. methodology used study determines amount reaching aneurysm after passing through by using porous nature recreate condition as closely feasible. Using computed tomographic images, patient-specific three-dimensional (3D) geometries were recreated. Modelling blood flow was obtained computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach. Our findings indicated volume percentage had completely reached wall. Only at inlet outflow did greatest shear stress (WSS) occur, with significant drop central region CFD calculate velocity, pressure, WSS flow. no effect on disproving theory produces local hypoxia.

Intraluminal thrombus and risk of rupture in patient specific abdominal aortic aneurysm - FSI modelling.

Recent numerical studies of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) suggest that intraluminal thrombus (ILT) may reduce the stress loading on the aneurysmal wall. Detailed fluid structure interaction (FSI) in the presence and absence of ILT may help predict AAA rupture risk better. Two patients, with varied AAA geometries and ILT structures, were studied and compared in detail. The patient specific 3D ...

The Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Intraluminal Thrombus: Current Concepts of Development and Treatment

The pathogenesis of the abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) shows several hallmarks of atherosclerotic and atherothrombotic disease, but comprises an additional, predominant feature of proteolysis resulting in the degradation and destabilization of the aortic wall. This review aims to summarize the current knowledge on AAA development, involving the accumulation of neutrophils in the intraluminal t...

Effect of intraluminal thrombus on pressure transmission in the abdominal aortic aneurysm.

OBJECTIVE To clarify the effect of intraluminal thrombus on pressure transmission. METHODS A saccular aneurysm was inserted into an artificial circulation system. Subsequently, the saccular aneurysm was filled with eight different human aortic aneurysm thrombus samples. Starch solution in an empty aneurysm was used as a control. A pressure sensor measured the pressure in the circulation, and ...
